Clean Beauty Products
At the beginning of quarantine, I decided it would be the perfect time to change up my skincare routine. I’ve been wanting to make the switch to clean beauty products and decided to do a little research on what brands might work best for me. I’m not the type of person who makes decisions quickly and the same goes for my online purchases.
Usually, I do a ton of research, read and watch reviews, and stress about whether or not I should spend the money before buying anything. It kind of sucks to be that way if I’m being honest. It does end up saving me money in the long run though. I can also be confident that I made a good, educated decision before buying anything new.
Most of the time, I think about things for 72 hours before I commit to buying them. This ensures that I’m certain that I really want or need the item. I definitely have used that approach while deciding on what products to try for my new and improved clean skincare routine. After using my new products for a few months now, I feel confident in sharing about how much I love them!
Biossance – Clean beauty you will love
I highly recommend the Biossance brand which I found out about originally from my friend, Bella. Another one of my favorite bloggers also uses these products. With their rave reviews plus all of my research, I was ready to try these clean beauty products out.
I originally ordered a sample pack from Biossance to try everything out and see if it worked. I tend to have sensitive skin. Even to clean products so I am always hesitant to buy a larger size product without trying it out first.
Now that I know I love the Biossance brand, I have decided to order the larger sizes soon. I still have some left after quite a few months of use, so they really go a long way.
My absolute favorites out of all the Biossance products are the Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil and the Rose Vegan Lip Balm. They leave my skin and lips feeling so soft and glowy. It is such a level up from what I was using before!
I also love the Squalane + Zinc Sheer Mineral Sunscreen. It is by far the best zinc-oxide sunscreen I have ever used. So many others don’t rub into your skin well enough and leave you looking ghostly. Biossance doesn’t have that issue at all. I love using it as my SPF every morning. It doubles as a good primer for makeup or it’s perfect without makeup as well.
If you’re like me and prefer to try products out before committing to a larger size, there are some great variety packs available. You may like the Limited Edition Radiantly Rose Duo. This kit has two of my favorite Biossance products in smaller sizes so you can sample them. The Your Clean Routine Over-Achievers Kit is also a great place to start.
Other Skincare I’ve Used
Before I started using Biossance products, I used jojoba oil a lot as a moisturizer. I still use jojoba oil more or less in place of lotion for my body. I am also loving my Rose Quartz Face Roller. At first, I wasn’t really sure that this face roller would work. Now, I love it! The face roller is supposed to increase blood circulation and activate your lymphatic system. That’s what helps with reducing puffiness and water retention. It is a relaxing, extra self-care step for me in my skincare routine.
Another clean beauty product I have been loving lately is Choate Body Matcha Peppermint Facial Cleanser. Choate Body is a female & Black-Owned business here in Cleveland that has been featured in Condé Nast Traveler, Vogue, and Glamour magazines (just to name a few). I’ve been using the facial cleanser for a few months and I love the way it makes my skin look and feel. The peppermint is also super refreshing to use when getting ready in the morning. You could say that I’m a bit obsessed and can’t wait to try more of the Choate Body product line!
Products I’ll Be Switching Out
I am going to be switching out some of my products for cleaner alternatives as they run out. In the past, I’ve used Thayer’s brand Rose Petal Alcohol-Free Witch Hazel Facial Spray. I like the Rose Petals scent, but added fragrances just aren’t that good for you. Unfortunately, it isn’t the cleanest product out there, but it is definitely not the worst. I think if I purchased it again, I would try the Cucumber Aloe Vera formula instead as it is pretty clean.
Mario Badescu products are hit or miss as far as being able to be categorized under “clean beauty”. I was using the Aloe, Green Tea, and Cucumber Facial Spray until I ran out. I liked it, but I am not sure I would buy it again before trying out another cleaner product first (like the Caudalie Facial Elixer that is on my wishlist further down).
My Clean Beauty Wish List
There are some clean beauty products that I have seen really good reviews and high praise about from other friends and bloggers out there. I’d really like to try them out for myself soon.
I’m especially interested in trying more clean beauty products in my makeup routine. I haven’t been buying much makeup lately as I am usually at home these days. Usually, I don’t wear makeup when I’m not leaving the house! But I am running low on everything so these are the items I’m going to purchase next.
In my research, it seems like Ilia Beauty is an amazing brand. I’ve seen really big bloggers and YouTubers raving about it, as well as my own real-life friends! I am curious to try the Ilia True Skin Serum Foundation and Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint. I have been using IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream for YEARS and really love it but I’m trying to officially make the switch to clean beauty so I want to try something new.
I’m also dying to try Summer Friday’s Jet Lag Mask and Super Amino Gel Cleanser (am I even a travel blogger if I don’t try it?), Dae Shampoo and Conditioner, Kopari CBD Deodorant, and Saie Mascara 101. I will be purchasing many of these as I run out of old products in the next couple of months. I’ll update this post as I try new things!
Why Should You Switch To Clean Beauty?
I am really wanting to make the switch to using clean beauty products as much as possible. If you read up on what some of the ingredients in our skincare and makeup can do, it’s actually quite scary. Some side effects you may find in products you have been using are endocrine disruption, neurotoxicity, and carcinogens, just to name a few. Yikes!
If you want to do a quick check-up on what items you use that are actually pretty bad for your health, try searching them on EWG.org. EWG is a great resource for finding out how clean or dirty your beauty products may be.
So, those are my clean beauty favorites as well as my wishlist for the coming months! What are some of your favorite clean beauty products that I should try? Let me know in the comments below and please share this post with friends who may like it or pin it for later!
