Mexico Mission Trip 2018
Since 2015, my husband, Alex, and I have been going on mission trips to Oaxaca, Mexico through Foundation For His Ministry, or FFHM. We visit and volunteer at a children’s home there and get to hang out with all of the amazing children who live there.
For one reason or another, these precious kiddos are unable to live with their families and come to live at this children’s home. While no one ever wishes to be away from their families, FFHM does an amazing job at caring for and loving these children.
The first time I visited the home, I met my sponsor child, Albino, and he changed my life. I didn’t know I could love a little human that isn’t biologically mine so much. I am happy that I was able to sponsor him, visit him, write to him, and straight up spoil him with gifts for his birthday and Christmas.
Albino went home to his family at the end of 2018 and I don’t know if I will ever see him again, but I will never forget how much getting to know him lit up my life. He (and all the other children) helped to pull me out of a dark pit that I didn’t even realize I had been in for a long time. I will miss him more than I can describe.
Visiting Mexico has also changed my world view so much. I feel grateful for the family I was born into and the country I get to call home. It has taught me a lot about the things that I need vs the things that I want and how to be more content with the things that I already have.
Alex and I love to share about our time in Mexico and also enjoy leading groups of people to experience what I have described here for themselves. In 2018, we were happy to bring along some teenagers from our church, who you’ll see in the vlog below, and they LOVED it.
So, check out this little vlog I made of our 2018 trip to one of my favorite places on earth. If you make it to the very end, you’ll hear one of the most precious laughs you have ever heard.
Watch my Oaxaca Vlog!
P.S. The amazing mountain with the natural pools of water is called Hierve el Agua. It is one of the most stunning locations I have ever visited.
