One thing that I love about living in Ohio is being close to Lake Erie. I definitely took living in such proximity to one of the beautiful Great Lakes for granted growing up. Now that I am an adult, I think it would be really difficult for me to live anywhere that isn’t close to the beach – whether that be a lake or ocean. It is a part of me now and I just cannot stay away!
This year has been a crazy one to be sure. As a travel blogger who can’t really travel right now, it has been difficult to know what to share with you all. Luckily, I have found a lot of inspiration right in my own backyard. I have always loved living in Ohio, but now I am even more thankful to call this beautiful state my home. Ohio. Find It Here. has curated 10 lovely road trips for all types of interests and I am partnering with them again on another post to share some hometown travel inspiration with you today! In honor of Women’s Equality Day, I decided to stop and explore the International Women’s Air and Space Museum in Cleveland which happens to be one of the stops on the Women in History Road Trip.
Getaway has cozy tiny house-like cabins nestled away into nature just a short drive outside of 12 major cities (and counting!). Since we are Cleveland natives, we visited Getaway Beaver Creek outpost, which is conveniently located between Cleveland and Pittsburgh. The Getaway motto is, “Disconnect to reconnect…Unplug from work, wifi, and routines”. They purposely don’t have wifi and it’s very refreshing to unplug. There are even cell phone lock boxes if you are brave enough to use them!
I recently received some snail mail from a friend and felt compelled to share it with you all. My friend Sara just started an account Instagram called @postcardpoetryclub and I could not love what she is doing there more. For $1, Sara will write you a personalized, handwritten poem on a vintage postcard and send it to you in the mail. I asked her for a travel-themed poem and this is what she came up with for me…
Last year I won Helene In Between’s $2,000 travel giveaway. I had been wanting to go on her trip to Portugal with TrovaTrip for months but had decided that I really couldn’t afford it. When I won Helene’s giveaway, I was floored! I couldn’t believe it! Never had I won so much as a bridal shower bingo game, but I had won $2,000 towards travel. I ended up using the money to go to Portugal with her. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for myself.
When Alex and I first went to London together in 2016, we decided it would be fun to get out of the city for a couple of days. I did a little research and came across some photos of the Cotswolds on Pinterest. I immediately fell in love and started to look for the perfect place to stay. Enter The Painswick Hotel. It seemed like the perfect city break and the decor looked so inviting.
